Twitch Sponsorships Are Open to Affiliates: How to Get In

Brand deals on Twitch were effectively a Partner privilege. That ended on 20 August 2026: Twitch Sponsorships are now open to Affiliates as well. Twitch Sponsorships are the platform’s own matchmaking programme, where brands post campaigns and approach creators — and pay them — directly through Twitch.

What changes for Affiliates

Until now, sponsorships through Twitch went almost exclusively to Partners, with rare exceptions. Affiliates can now receive invitations from brands whose campaign matches their profile. The process itself is unchanged — the door simply opens for a much larger group.

One thing to understand up front: you do not apply to campaigns the way you apply for a job. You make yourself findable and the invitations come to you — provided your profile is actually filled in. That is where it is decided whether you show up at all.

Four steps to your first invitation

First you accept the terms in the Sponsorship Portal. Then comes the step that is mandatory for Affiliates: the Creator Sponsorship Certification, a course run through Creator Camp. Without it nothing happens — and once you have it, a “Certified Creator” badge appears on your profile.

Next you fill in your Creator Profile: what your channel is about and what kind of sponsorship you are open to. Finally you populate your Sponsorship Highlights with clips that show what you are like when you talk. That is the part brands actually watch.

Whether a specific campaign is a fit is ultimately the brand’s call — each one brings its own criteria. Twitch does not put any numbers on rates or payouts in the announcement; that lives in the portal.

Your clips just became your portfolio

The underrated item on that list is the last one. Sponsorship Highlights are made of clips, and good clips happen live, in the moment — not three weeks later while you scroll through a VOD. That is what ByteMate, our hosted Twitch bot with chat alerts, overlays and community tools, is for: the clip command lets your chat capture those moments while you are still playing. One !clip does it, with an optional title and length.

The effect is mundane and decisive at once: your community spots your good moments more reliably than you do, because they are watching while you are playing. After a few weeks you have a collection to pick highlights from, instead of having to go hunting for them.

And once a deal is running

A sponsorship usually means mentioning the same thing over several hours — the brand, a link, a code. Done by hand you forget it, and anyone joining at 10pm never saw what you said at 7pm.

Timed messages exist for exactly this. You write the text once and set the interval, separately for “stream is live” and “stream is offline”, and the bot posts it on its own — as often as agreed and no more. And since paid promotion needs to be labelled as such, you can put that label into the same message, so everyone arriving later sees it too. A custom chat command for the link is worth adding as well, so you are not retyping it every time somebody asks.

Frequently asked questions

Do I really have to do the certification?

As an Affiliate, yes — Twitch names the Creator Sponsorship Certification explicitly as a requirement. The course runs through Creator Camp.

Will invitations arrive automatically?

No. You get notified when a campaign matches your profile. Whether that happens depends on your Creator Profile and on each brand’s own criteria.

What if I am not an Affiliate yet?

Then this is not for you yet — but Twitch has been lowering the entry barriers in several places. We wrote that up in our piece on monetization for all.

How do I get started with ByteMate?

Not for the portal itself, which runs entirely on Twitch. ByteMate helps around the edges: collecting clips for your highlights and repeating your sponsor mentions during the stream. Both are free and a Twitch login is all it takes.

In short

For Affiliates this is the biggest expansion in a long while — but it will not happen on its own. Do the certification, fill in the profile, put real clips into your highlights: an afternoon of work, and after that it works for you. Start collecting clips today, because those are the one thing you cannot produce retroactively. You can follow what is changing in the ByteMate tools on the status and changelog page.
