Today, on June 12, 2025, it comes down to Twitch to widespread disruptions affecting numerous users and streamers alike. Particularly noticeable: Many viewers can no longer write in the chat, the left navigation bar on the Twitch website remains completely empty for many, and third-party services like StreamElements have failed completely.
Anyone currently attempting to access the StreamElements website or use features such as the bot will receive an error message:
“Error: KV GET failed: 503 Service temporarily unavailable”.
This indicates server problems in the background – probably related to the Twitch API, because alerts, overlays and many other services that access Twitch data are currently not working reliably or not at all.
Affected services:
-
Twitch chat (some messages are not sent or displayed)
-
Navigation elements on twitch.tv
-
StreamElements (Bot, Website, Alerts)
-
Twitch API in general (affects many third-party providers such as OBS plugins, bots, extensions)
Suspected cause:
Currently there is no official statement from Twitch, but everything points to massive backend issues or unannounced maintenance. Cloud services that Twitch and partners like StreamElements rely on could also be affected.
If you encounter problems as a streamer or viewer today – you are not alone! Let's hope that Twitch will soon get the problem under control.
